On the outskirts of the Flemish coastal town Koksijde we created a second home for the sweetest couple. Their briefing was quite straightforward: open kitchen, flexible spaces for when their kids visit, focus on the view and linking the two floors of the duplex apartment.

Classic, yet different. The combination of bespoke finishes with design classics were the tools in achieving the design aesthetic. In collaboration with Franssens we created the ceramic claustra that 'hides' the entrance door. We designed a bespoke wire glass cabinet that combines perfectly with the Forme libre table by Charlotte Perriand for Cassina.

The apartment, situated in a building developed by Rietveld projects and architecture by caan architecten, overlooks the dunes. The kitchen island is placed so that it faces the view. The stairs that connect the living spaces with a guest room is prominently present in the design.

The open plan bathrooms are dominated by the rythm of the rectangular tiles. The rounded corners soften the walls. The wash basins are bespoke concrete pieces of furniture.
