In the heart of Ostend, Veerle's front row apartment has been transformed into a modern coastal retreat. The three-bedroom layout was reconfigured to introduce two bathrooms, replacing the former single one. The master suite now includes a private en-suite, while the two guest rooms share a sleek shower room. To maximize the apartment's unobstructed seaview, the closed-off kitchen was replaced with a central kitchen island, creating an open-plan living space. This transformation fosters a seamless flow, ideal for entertaining and enjoying long sunsets. The kitchen island serves as a focal point, combining ample workspace with a social hub, perfectly suited for coastal living.

The central island is blending blue enamel and black concrete, a deliberate design choise to seperate water and cooking areas. The black concrete, cast on-site, houses the sink and dishwasher, while the high-gloss blue section is for cooking and storage, reflecting Veerle's love for the color. The woodwork features iroko veneer, complemented by a custom ceramic backsplash from Studio Natadora. One of the most fulfilling parts of this project was working with great craftsmen. Their expertise and mutual understanding transformed the initial design into a superior version.

The master bedroom boasts a pastel green en-suite bathroom in polyester, affectionately termed 'a bathing machine'. This design integrates all functions in a seamless, unified manner. And while we we were at it, we threw in a few other favorites: our Contekst sink, lush carpet and mirrors. Above the bath, a fitted mirror creates an optical illusion, drawing in more light and expanding the sense of space. A concrete wall piece between the master bedroom and a guest room serves dual purposes: a shelve on one side and a sturdy bench on the other. Complemented by Iroko veneer cabinetry.
